How does media effect Science vs. Religion?

Now that we are aware of this social issue it is probably even better to know what the solution is. I have always been really supportive of science when it came down to this debate, but I can't be biased towards religion after seeing the issue from both perspectives throughout my research. Neither group is the bad one but the media makes it seem like they are by causing huge debates and creating pieces of media made to anger one another. News programs are always looking for something to talk about to make more money and some websites are developed specifically to outrage people of scientific or religious beliefs. Can it really be a problem to focus more on issues that matter more than making up stories or blaming different groups by using propaganda? The media can easily change all of this by working together to stop the hate and to make people stop with these fights and hate messages. Scientific people rely on actual facts and proof while religious people rely on faith and they believe that a supernatural figure is controlling everything. These are all just different opinions and nothing more so I don't understand why it is made to look even worse. Although I am being a hypocrite by blaming the media on this issue, there are a lot of people that are a part of these groups that say things to provoke others. Since media hasn't been around when this controversy started it hasn't done as much damage as there already is. If the media could just slow down or stop completely the mentioning of this issue, more and more people would slowly start to forget about it. I know this debate will never end, but I have faith (ironic for me to be saying this) in the media to change the world one step at a time by removing the hate messages, videos, and images of this issue. It would be better for this topic to be kept away from everyone else who does not want to hear about it than effecting others with something that really doesn't matter.

Science vs. Religion in Print

Other than getting news straight from television programs, radio stations, and the Internet, people also get it from items such as newspapers or magazines. Science and religion are not so large in these, but even some little things added in these papers can make large differences. Examples of these differences made are when the articles in newspapers that involve this topic, are advertising websites and programs that take readers to these types of debates. Now even people who prefer getting information from newspapers, magazines, posters, and pamphlets are effected by this social issue. Sometimes people who feel strongly about another group will go from house to house trying to convince innocent citizens to believe what they believe is right by using posters, booklets, or pamphlets. For example, once in a while at my house, a religious person will come to try and convince me to believe in God by handing me pamphlets that will explain why God exists. This is why I believe that religion vs. science is really not as small as we would think and people are always being harassed in peaceful neighbourhoods by the members of these groups.

Religion and Science in Film

The film industry is a big factor when it comes to science and religion. Even if a movie has nothing to do with these two, it finds a way to sneak in a comparison or message about this topic which involves a lot of thinking and concentrating to find it. An example of this is in the Fast and Furious movies where one of the characters is saying "grace" before eating, and he is thankful for nitrous oxide and fast cars. Both of these have to do with the work of science and engineering and it is ironic that he was saying it during something like this. Movies are an easy way to make another group look bad and ridiculous making them a convenient source for causing these debates. Films that are made for this purpose are generally biased when they try to make the audience believe in different things. People are always watching movies and it would be extremely rare to find someone who has never seen a film once. If the millionare movie industries wanted to they could easily make more people learn about this issue at hand and how to stop it. They do not want to make films like this because they want more money, so they produce movies that that they think that people would actually watch.

Science and Religion through Music?

We see religion and science in news, television, and on the Internet, but what we rarely see or think about is how powerful this topic is using music. The more you listen to a song, the more it is embedded into your brain and to think about what could happen if hidden messages about this topic are in every song is bad enough. Those who feel strongly towards each other (science and religion) will do a lot to try to change peoples' minds and music is one of the first choices. Even when you don't notice these little things it is happening quite a lot. There are even music artists who are religious or scientific and they may include some hidden messages in their music when you don't even notice. Billions of people listen to and love music which makes this a great tool to spread pretty much any message throughout the world. Music can be used to make groups of people get along and to stop spreading hate. More songs that are made for peace or changing the world should also include lyrics like "believe what you want to believe and don't let others change you." The whole music industry should also team up for writing songs about this social issue, just like they do other situations such as war and natural disasters. I know this issue may not be as big as those two mentioned but it contributes slightly to tragic problems like war.

Religion vs. Science on Websites and Internet

The Internet is the perfect place to spread the hate towards science and religion. Thousands of pictures or "memes" are posted to large organisations such as Face Book, Twitter, and Google each day. A lot of them target religious groups and science theories (more rare than religion). There are also much smaller websites that provoke those of religious beliefs and those who think scientifically. Put those two groups together and you will get some of the greatest debates or arguments that you have ever seen. People are also creating debates with made-up characters. An example of this is a debate I found online between a philosopher and a Christian student: http://www.zootle.net/afda/religion-vs-science.shtml . The hardest place to try to stop excessive disputes like these would be the Internet because of these thousands upon thousands of websites being designed for this purpose. The modern generation uses the Internet more than everything else, so this is one of the best places for propaganda or forcing people to think a certain way to fit in. If all of these arguments suddenly stop completely along with the provocative sites, just imagine how huge of a difference it would make!

Religion vs. Science in the News

Religion vs. Science is huge when it comes to the news. Almost everyday when something happens in the world, religion is the main target for blaming and it is made to look bad. Science is sometimes targeted when an explosion or nuclear weapon goes off killing people. To religious or regular people, science is the blame for creating such massive "weapons of destruction." News programs and radio news always look for something new to talk about to keep the businesses running and they don't care how they affect others with the blame and mind games. These are probably the biggest forms of multimedia that get people arguing about religion and science and even the smallest things like weather can trigger these debates. Examples of this are; when it rains, religious people will tell you it is God's way of crying or punishing people, while scientists will use technology and basic logic to explain how clouds and percipitation works. If news programs wanted to, they could ruin the world with propaganda and with all that power, who knows what they can fix? I believe that news channels and radio shows can and should do what is right and stop using science and religion as easy ways to create more controversy to keep the program running. I am also sure that a lot of people who watch the news are getting tired of all the "they did this" or "they said that" attitude that is portrayed so well in the news. Is it that hard to stop with this blaming and start focusing on the real problems and wars that most people don't even know about because they are too busy listening to the news about religion and science. I am not saying that they shouldn't show news about new discoveries and inventions or new churches that are open, but the rest of it should just be gone. These are the reasons why I think the news has a mass effect on religion vs. science.

Introduction to Religion vs. Science

Most people would always feel strongly about all the social issues in our world today. I personally feel strongly about the big debate between religion and science. It has always been clear to me that the difference between religion and science is the difference between thoughtless certainty and thoughtful doubt. As a lot of people already know, the religion vs. science subject has been studied since the ancient times and classical era. I think it all started with two groups trying to convince each other how life began, and they would do anything to make one another change their mind. This has been going on for at least 500 years and it affects people from all over and even wars started due to it. This controversy has entered our schools, religious teachings and politics. I feel that this debate can go on forever because science is based on discoveries and actual facts while religious people will always be in denial, no matter what scientists say. Children may be the most affected by this since they are being brainwashed to believe certain things. Will we ever know which side is the winner or who is right? Probably not. We might of even been brainwashed to think differently like we do now and these two sides will not agree with each other. The media has a lot to do with this too however, they also have a huge advantage in making this stop.
