How does media effect Science vs. Religion?

Now that we are aware of this social issue it is probably even better to know what the solution is. I have always been really supportive of science when it came down to this debate, but I can't be biased towards religion after seeing the issue from both perspectives throughout my research. Neither group is the bad one but the media makes it seem like they are by causing huge debates and creating pieces of media made to anger one another. News programs are always looking for something to talk about to make more money and some websites are developed specifically to outrage people of scientific or religious beliefs. Can it really be a problem to focus more on issues that matter more than making up stories or blaming different groups by using propaganda? The media can easily change all of this by working together to stop the hate and to make people stop with these fights and hate messages. Scientific people rely on actual facts and proof while religious people rely on faith and they believe that a supernatural figure is controlling everything. These are all just different opinions and nothing more so I don't understand why it is made to look even worse. Although I am being a hypocrite by blaming the media on this issue, there are a lot of people that are a part of these groups that say things to provoke others. Since media hasn't been around when this controversy started it hasn't done as much damage as there already is. If the media could just slow down or stop completely the mentioning of this issue, more and more people would slowly start to forget about it. I know this debate will never end, but I have faith (ironic for me to be saying this) in the media to change the world one step at a time by removing the hate messages, videos, and images of this issue. It would be better for this topic to be kept away from everyone else who does not want to hear about it than effecting others with something that really doesn't matter.
